Kemi Adetu is an International Finance professional with over 5 years of investment banking, commercial banking and corporate finance expertise in Europe, Asia, Africa and she now works in North America. She has gained international experience across disciplines including mergers and acquisitions, marketing, sales, strategy, finance, business development and project management; and has demonstrated her ability as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders through exceptional delivery under tight timelines and industry challenges. She has supported the origination and execution of transactions including financing solutions and advisory services to the largest USheadquartered Private Equity Funds and multinational organizations with investing appetite for assets across multiple sectors, in Europe, LATAM, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, she worked in Management Consulting at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Digital Marketing at Google, and Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank.
Kemi is also a philanthropist with proven track record of successfully implementing projects that contribute to Africa’s evolution through providing access to quality education, leadership development, gender equality and youth empowerment. Kemi’s passion for Gender Equality also led her to start a professional network and social enterprise called Fempire Professional Network (FPN). FPN is an international community of female professionals of colour across several professions and sectors. Through targeted events, FPN has three main objectives: create a network and support system of like-minded individuals, provide a platform of opportunity (including but not limited to mentoring, funding and training), and share resources for leadership, encouragement, empowerment and self-development. She is a member of SC’s Diversity and Inclusion committee to advocate for projects such as SC’s “Women+Tech4NYC” program – a venture capital platform that funds women-led businesses.
In recognition of her work as a Champion of Women in Business, she was recently recognised and received an award as #1 on Yahoo Finance’s Top 50 Future Female Leaders HERoes 2019 list. In recognition of her efforts towards poverty alleviation, talent development and Gender Equality, Kemi was selected by her employer to attend the One Young World United Nations Summit in the Hague, Netherlands in October 2018, and was recently invited to attend the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Goalkeepers Awards ceremony and summit in New York in September 2019, during the UN General Assembly week.
She holds BSc. (Hons) in Medicinal Chemistry from University College London, and MSc. (Hons) Business Management from The University of Warwick, both in the United Kingdom.
